In one of the suburbs of Boston, about a year ago, something similar happened. A multinational decided to close down a profitable, functioning facility carrying out some high-tech manufacturing. Evidently, it just wasnt profitable enough for them. The workforce and the union offered to buy it, take it over, and run it themselves. The multinational decided to close it down instead, probably for reasons of class-consciousness. I dont think they want things like this to happen. If there had been enough popular support, if there had been something like the Occupy movement that could have gotten involved, they might have succeeded.

Pity that nobody will listen to one of the greatest thinkers of several generations.

He's absolutely right.

Yeah he is an economic expert, gimme a fucking break.

There is no "expertise" in economics any more than there is "expertise" in morality. Values differ - Chomsky simply represents the side of the majority of working people.o

What does a two man operation incorporating have to do with the Fortune 500?

http://www.census.gov/econ/smallbus.html

# small biz (1-4 employees): 3,617,764 firms
# large biz (500+ employees): 18,469 firms

Approximately 50% of people employed in America are employed in firms of size 499 or less.

Why do you celebrate the concentrate of power and wealth into the hands of an elite few?

Why do you celebrate a system of government, namely Socialism, that is an abject failure every time it's tried?

And, retard, incorporation has nothing to do with the fortune 500 - the "Fortune 500" is simply a label, the reasons to incorporate are to protect assets and income from lawsuits and taxes. There is nothing inherently illegal or immoral in incorporating, unless you're a liberal pinhead like you.

because all viable society of the past is variation of socialism. You have a society and you need to take care of the poor and the sick. If not, the society collapses. In fact, history shows us that when the gap between rich and poor is huge, like amerikkka is now, collapse is guaranteed and fast approaching.

Yes. If you want a functioning economy.

:potd:

Yes. And Chomsky also predicted that TWO MILLION would die in the Afghanistan war.

The vast majority of businesses are not corporations.

What the FUCK are you talking about by "AN ELITE FEW???"

What you DILDO leftists do not understand is that the "one percent" that you say controls America -- amounts to THREE MILLION PEOPLE.

By comparison: CHINA is controlled by about 10,000 people.

Russia: More like 25,000.

North Korea is essentially controlled by 1,000.

Mexico is ruled and owned by, basically 13 families.

But here in America, control is essentially spread among 3,000,000 people.

Is there a more egalitarian nation on the planet? No.

Can you NAME or IDENTIFY 3,000,000 people who SHOULD be in control? No.

The fact that we let 1% control the shots -- instead of the 0.001% that rule MOST countries -- is a testiment to the power of democracy.

CUNT.

Republicans can bash a guy like Chomsky all they want and call him a fuckhead and a socialist. They can do the same to Obama. They rant and rave all they want.

But they can never escape the fact they voted for this guy :gwb: twice.

And the first time they did it, it was for a 300 dollar check!

Any business that hires people is probably an S-corp, a C-corp, or an LLP -- all essentially corporations.

Bush is smarter than Obama, no matter what the press says.

And a $300 check is $300 more than anything Chomsky has ever done for anybody.
